Mr. Wizard asked:
I have some questions regarding any requirements for converting videos to different formats. I use Movavi converter to convert files to WMV for my Zune ,its great but it takes so long to convert a file (2-3hrs for a 100mb file). My question is, do i need a video card or a dedicated GPU?
If so can you give me advice on card specs? Im computer savy so please dont skimp on the details!
THANKS

a good video card will certainly help, as they process mpeg4 on hardware insted of software, which accelerates the process.
ohh, and i almost forget, please be more humble. If you are truly an insider, you wouldn’t ask for specs. anyway, i heard that GF8600 are on affordable prices so check them out. Also check what processes are you running. Virus and spyware can eat up most of the processing power, so can do some crappy antivirus (panda and kapersky specially).
If i were u, id make sure there is NOTHING running except for the encoder, and try shutting down the Antivirus (while being offine of course),that should speed up things a bit too.
Again, CHECK THE PROCESSES, the amount of ram (1gb should do the trick, but 2 is better) and make sure the swap file has a fixed size, since that can slow down things too.
